DR-WM-1.0: Building friction, roughness and stiffness into a quadruped world modelworld-model

Video-generating world models can render a robot dog walking across snow, but cannot work out that low friction will make it slip. Beyond video generation, DR-WM-1.0 from DEEP Robotics (Yunshenchu, Chinese quadruped robot maker) adds a large-scale-trained physical-property prior module that predicts the consequences of actions by friction, roughness and stiffness, and uses dual ControlNets to bring in scene geometry and camera motion. Pre-training data comprises 2.58 million images and more than 100,000 real-robot clips.

DR-VLA-2.0: Teaching quadruped navigation with 10,000 hours of human first-person videoautonomy

Human video contains experience of going around obstacles and yielding, but the viewpoint does not match a robot's and there are no executable action labels. DR-VLA-2.0 uses a domain-invariant scene representation (DISR) to extract scene semantics, spatial positions and spatiotemporal relations, serving as a shared interface between humans and robots. Its training dataset, EgoLynx, contains 10,000 hours of human video and 2000 robot demonstrations. On the EgoLynx-Robot test set, the overall navigation score improved by about 5% and final heading error fell by 14.6%.

Atomic motion coordinate model: language instructions and force feedback share one coordinate systemmanipulation

Embodied models doing long-horizon manipulation are often dominated by visual supervision: the language instruction changes, yet the arm carries on as before. DEEP Robotics breaks arm motion into 13 atomic coordinates, first masks vision to train language-to-atomic-action alignment on its own, then adds force feedback to correct actions. In unseen layouts, real dual-arm task progress reached 87.8%; with force feedback added, task progress was 78.5% for plug insertion and 75.2% for vase wiping, all self-reported by the company.

NHTSA draft: a turquoise light to signal autonomous driving statusautonomy

On October 23 US time, NHTSA released a draft proposing a new vehicle light color: turquoise, to indicate that the vehicle is driving itself. The draft makes it optional only, not mandatory. The light is on while the system is driving and must be off when the driver is in control. The scheme was first proposed by Mercedes-Benz with its L3 system DRIVE PILOT and has been trialed in California for two years; SAE also supports turquoise. The most direct use is for police and emergency responders, who see an empty driver's seat and need to tell whether the car is driving itself or a driver needs to be searched for and rescued. China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology draft for comment on October 20 likewise allows only L3 and above vehicles to carry an ADS marker light. Source: Electrek source

8 of 13 robotics IPOs in Hong Kong have broken issue price; cornerstone investors have paper losses of about HK$855 millionadjacent

Of the 13 robotics companies listed in Hong Kong this year, 8 have fallen below their issue price. Ten of them brought in cornerstone investors, who subscribed HK$4.861 billion in total. Based on latest share prices, 36Kr calculates the cornerstones' theoretical paper loss at about HK$855 million, roughly a fifth of principal, and their shares are locked up for six months, so they cannot exit even if they want to. Institutions' holdings in these 13 companies are conservatively estimated at more than HK$20.9 billion in market value, and 8 of the companies have average daily turnover below HK$20 million. Assuming institutions sell 20% of market volume each day, 36Kr's static estimate puts the median time to fully exit at about two years. The primary market is still doubling down: citing data from IT Juzi (Chinese startup database), 36Kr reports that in the first half of this year there were 312 embodied-intelligence funding rounds in China, more than the 227 for large models.
